People Are Weird

Have you noticed the world is full of weird people? Someone says words nobody understands. Someone dresses funny. Someone always does things “just in case,” even when they don’t make sense. Someone laughs when it isn’t funny. Someone always thinks about others instead of themselves. Everyone around me is weird. Weird, weird, weird, weird! Now the “weird” itself feels weird.

People Are Weird is a funny, gentle story about a little girl surrounded by lots of very different and very weird people.

The wonderful, warm, and vibrant illustrations are by Catarina Sobral — a Portuguese illustrator, picture book author, and director of animated films. She is the creator of O Meu Avô and Vazio, and a winner of numerous international awards.

The smile-inducing text was written by Victor Dias de Oliveira Santos — a Brazilian-American award-winning children’s author and linguist, author of What Makes Us Human and My Dad, My Rock.
