Dražen Jerabek

Dražen Jerabek is a contemporary Croatian author and illustrator of children’s books. He was born in 1966 in Zagreb, Croatia. He graduated from the School of Applied Arts, specializing in painting, then the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Currently, he works at the School of Textiles, Design and Applied Arts in Osijek.

He has been active in children’s illustration since 1998; in addition to books, he collaborates with Croatian children’s magazines such as Smib, Modra lasta, Radost, Prvi izbor, creates posters and writes textbooks.

In collaboration with the Croatian children’s writer Želimir Hercigonj, he illustrated several books – Kjel – crna labud ptica, Pripovijetka o rosi, srcu i snovima and Gorski duh. The latter was awarded the prestigious Croatian Grigor Vitez Award as the most beautiful illustrated children’s book in 2006.

In 2004, he received the main award of the Croatian Association of Visual Artists of Applied Arts.
