Sleepy river

This is a lullaby book, a song book that the river sings with its mother. The mother takes the baby on an evening boat ride, and together they watch what lives along the banks and in the water, listen to the splash of the waves and the rustle of the grass. These two in the boat are part of the same big universe as the Milky Way above their heads. And despite the fact that it is getting dark around, there is nothing scary in the world: the baby is not afraid of either the owl or the bats. There is nothing to be afraid of, because night and sleep are no less a beautiful continuation of daytime life.

The book has very beautiful muted twilight colors, gradually darkening towards the end. And the brushstrokes on the water, on the bark of the trees, in the grass, in the leaves, in the feathers of the owl create the lulling rhythm necessary for falling asleep. Like ripples on the river. These brushstrokes and smooth, simple shapes make the illustrations reminiscent of folk primitive art and traditional patchwork embroidery.
