Oleg Korovin

Oleg Korovin (1915–2002) — Artist, graphic designer, and illustrator.

Born in Yekaterinburg, Russia, Korovin studied at the Perm Art School before beginning his career in illustration. After serving in the war, he returned to civilian life and focused on book illustration, working with publishing houses first in Sverdlovsk and later in Perm.

Korovin illustrated a wide range of works, including stories by A. Moshkovsky, S. Baruzdin, E. Permyak, Yu. Sotnik, P. Bazhov, A. K. Doyle, and many other authors. His illustrations are noted for their clarity, expressive detail, and ability to bring both folk and contemporary stories vividly to life.

Through his work, Korovin helped shape the visual language of Soviet and Russian children’s literature, combining traditional graphic techniques with a modern artistic sensibility that appealed to readers of all ages.
