Svetlana Kim

Svetlana Davydovna Kim is a Soviet artist and illustrator. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1977.

Svetlana Kim was born in Chernivtsi on September 10, 1947.

From 1965 to 1969 she studied at the clothing design department at the Vyzhnytsia College of Applied Arts. After graduating from college, Svetlana was sent to work in Kharkov, where she entered the industrial graphics department of the Kharkov Art and Industry Institute. In 1974, she successfully defended her diploma. Her diploma work, “Theatrical poster for the opera “Cio-Cio-San” of the Tallinn Opera House”, was awarded a prize.

Participant of exhibitions since 1969, republican and all-Union since 1970. Since 1975 – the main direction of creativity is book illustration. She has made more than 200 books in publishing houses of Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Kyiv and Kharkov.

Since the 1990s, she has lived permanently in Germany.
