Petr Prokhorovich Aseyev (1919-2014) — artist, illustrator of children’s books.
Born in the city of Uryupinsk. Since childhood, he loved fishing — at that time, the Khoper River was full of different fish, even sterlet. Sitting on the bank with a fishing rod became a lifelong hobby.
Studied at the art school in 1905. Shortly before the war, he was drafted into the army and soon ended up at the front. After the war, he graduated from the Latvian Academy of Arts in Riga.
In 1953, he married Galina Andreyevna Brey, the daughter of the artist Andrei Brey. In 1954, his son Andrei was born, and in 1956, his daughter Tatyana, who became a model for many characters in book illustrations.
In 1957, he moved from the Baltics to the village of Bykovo near Moscow. He continued to paint, one of which, “The First Sputnik,” was included in the Tretyakov Gallery. He was engaged in book illustration, and collaborated with the publishing house “Detgiz”.
Another of his hobbies for quite a long time was breeding pigeons.
Pyotr Prokhorovich and his wife died in 2014, having lived together for 60 years.
