Ed Emberley (born 1931) is an American artist and illustrator.
Emberley was born in Malden, Massachusetts. He graduated from the Massachusetts School of Art in Boston, then studied at the Rhode Island School of Design.
In 1955, he married Barbara, a librarian and writer, with whom he collaborated on several children’s books.
Emberley is best known for his children’s books, especially his drawing tutorials. Emberley believes that anyone can learn to draw. His tutorials contain clear step-by-step instructions, and he often uses numbers, letters, and shapes in his methods.
Ed Emberley has illustrated over fifty books.
