Paul Rogers

Paul Rogers is an American illustrator and graphic designer best known for his bold, poster-like style that often draws on mid-20th-century design traditions. He studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and later worked in advertising and editorial illustration before moving more heavily into book projects.

Rogers has created illustrations for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Esquire, Rolling Stone, and many other major outlets. In the children’s book world, he is widely recognized for Jazz ABZ: An A to Z Collection of Jazz Portraits (2005), his collaboration with Wynton Marsalis. His art in that book mirrors the energy and rhythm of the music, using strong lines, bold shapes, and a graphic sensibility that connects directly to the world of jazz posters and album covers.

Beyond children’s books, he has designed stamps for the U.S. Postal Service, concert posters, and album covers, showing his range across formats where music, culture, and visual rhythm intersect.

He lives in Pasadena, California, and continues to work on both commercial and personal projects.
