Pavel Čech

Pavel Čech (born 5 November 1968, Brno, Czech Republic) is a Czech author and illustrator of children’s books. Before turning to illustration full‑time, he worked at an engineering plant and later at a fire station.

Since 2002, Čech has devoted himself to creating books for young audiences — writing, illustrating and often designing his own picture‑books. His works number over thirty titles, published in sixteen languages.

He has been recognized with multiple domestic literary and illustration awards in the Czech Republic.

Typical motifs in his books include winding streets, overgrown gardens, Native American themes, and adventure stories inspired by Jules Verne and Karl May. His visual style combines whimsy, rich texture and subtle humor, making him one of the leading names on the Czech children’s‑book scene.
