Gabriel Pacheco

Gabriel Pacheco (1973) is a contemporary Mexican illustrator. He studied at the National Institute of Fine Arts and later at the National School of Plastic Arts, as well as at the University of Lleida in Spain. Since 1997 he has been illustrating children’s books.

His work is often defined by its atmospheric, dreamlike quality. Pacheco builds entire worlds through muted colors, elongated forms, and symbolic details that invite the reader to look more closely. His illustrations feel theatrical yet intimate, shaped by a strong sense of composition and a gentle surrealist touch. Over the years he has developed a distinctive visual language that makes his books instantly recognizable and highly regarded in international picture book illustration.
