One day, Sven the swan bursts into the peaceful, festive life of a quiet little village. He makes an epic entrance on a skateboard, wearing cool sunglasses and holding a cup of coffee in his wing. Meeting three villagers: a dog, a horse, and a butterfly, Sven offers to grant each of them one wish. The butterfly asks for bigger wings, the horse dreams of a castle, and the dog wishes for a huge jar of soda. Their wishes come true but turn out to be completely unnecessary, as happiness doesn’t lie in expensive gifts…
Ulrika Kestere’s “Magiska svanen Sven” is a cheerful and insightful story that reminds us that true worth lies not in generous gestures or material goods, but in friendship, love, laughter, and creativity. Kestere’s illustrations perfectly capture the spirit of the story — stylish and tender, with fluid shapes and a rich yet soft color palette.
After all, the swan on a skateboard doesn’t come to give you everything you want, it comes to remind you of everything you already have.
