The Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB) is one of the oldest and most prestigious international awards for children’s book illustrators. It was established in 1967 and is held every two years in Bratislava, Slovakia. The event aims to promote and celebrate the best contemporary illustrations for children from around the world.

The biennial includes exhibitions of nominated works, workshops, and lectures for artists, educators, and the public. Illustrations submitted to BIB are evaluated by an international jury, which first creates a shortlist and then selects the winners.

Several prizes are presented at BIB: the Grand Prix, awarded to the best overall illustrator; several Golden Apples, for outstanding artistic achievements; Plaques, recognizing notable works; and honorary mentions for exceptional submissions
