Vladimir Zuykov

Vladimir Nikolaevich Zuykov (1935-2021) — artist, illustrator.

Graduated from the Potemkin Moscow Pedagogical Institute, then taught drawing at school, worked as an illustrator in magazines and newspapers; since 1968 he was a production designer at the Soyuzmultfilm studio. He took part in the creation of more than 30 animated films.

Vladimir Zuykov, together with Eduard Nazarov, is the author of the well-known image of Winnie-the-Pooh from the Soviet animated film.

For many years he collaborated with book publishers; illustrated dozens of books, including works by Kir Bulychev, Astrid Lindgren, Alan Milne, G. Auster, Otfried Preussler, Oscar Wilde, Annie M.G. Schmidt. He worked a lot with the popular science magazines “Knowledge is Power” and “Chemistry and Life”. He taught at the Children’s School of Animation Art, at VGIK in the department of animation film directing.

Vladimir Zuykov’s works are kept in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.

Animation is graphics come to life, which has given new possibilities to the visual arts, and these possibilities are far from exhausted. Fate has saved me from the pseudo-academic school. I have drawn and draw what I live, what I see and what I admire!
