André Neves

André Neves (born October 31, 1973) is a Brazilian writer and illustrator of children’s books. He was born in Recife, Pernambuco, and holds a degree in Social Communication from the University of Pernambuco. In 1995 he began formal art studies, taking courses in painting and graphic arts and participating in exhibitions; he also studied illustration at the Summer School in Sarmede, Italy.

Neves has been awarded prizes from Brazilian children’s-book institutions and writers’ associations and is active as an author-illustrator and educator, leading workshops and courses on picture-book creation. He has worked as a graphic designer in Porto Alegre and has lived and worked in other Brazilian cities while producing books, illustrations and editorial projects.
