In Bug City, a family of insects goes about their day. Mama is a ladybug and Papa is a daddy longlegs. They shop for calico moths and velvet ants, visit the zoo with rhinoceros beetles and ant lions, and meet friends along the way. Everywhere they go, little adventures happen, and the city feels busy and full of life.

Ipcar’s illustrations show every corner of the city in bright colors and bold shapes. The bug family’s house, inspired by the artist’s childhood home, is full of tiny details, and each page invites the reader to look closely at the busy streets and the characters. The text is simple and lively, letting the story move along naturally while the pictures tell most of the fun.
