Julia Gukova

Julia Gukova is an artist and illustrator, also working in easel painting.

She studied at the Krasnopresnenskaya Art School and later trained in painting and graphics under Alisa Poret, Nikolai Popov, and Sofya Gannushkina.

From 1979 to 1984, she studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute (Department of Book Design). Her graduation project consisted of illustrations for A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.

Since 1986, she has attended masterclasses led by Mikhail Anikst at the publishing house Kniga. She has illustrated more than 40 books in Russia and abroad, and has also worked extensively in magazine illustration, as well as in film, animation, and computer animation.

Gukova is a participant and prize-winner of Russian and international exhibitions, and a recipient of various awards and competition prizes. Her works are held in private collections in Russia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Canada, Germany, and Japan.
