Silent book contest

The Silent Book Contest is an international competition for wordless books, or “silent books,” held since 2014. Its aim is to support and develop the genre of illustrated stories told exclusively through images, without the use of text. The contest is organized by the Italian publishing house Carthusia Edizioni and attracts artists and illustrators from around the world.

The Silent Book Contest invites authors to create short stories on any subject and for any age group, using only visual storytelling across 14 spreads of a book. The contest is judged by an international jury, which awards cash prizes and ensures the publication of the best books.

Over the years, the contest has become an important platform for promoting the genre of “silent books,” which allows readers to overcome language barriers and develop their imagination.
